In occasion of our end of year auction to be held on our premises on 7th and 8th December 2013, a group of oriental weapons, including daggers with jade, precious stone and coral grips and exceptional damascened swords decorated with gilt motifs will be sold; all significant for both their refined workmanship and outstanding quality.
Collectors of historic memorabilia will be interested for the sale of a rare Le Mat revolver that was given to General Giuseppe Garibaldi and a Mod. 55 presentation sabre, which was also presented to the hero. There will also be of a number of cased duelling pistols, rare revolvers and some pairs of very fine Italian flintlock pistols.
The famous gunsmith Carlo Maria Colombo from Milan is well represented by two superb examples of percussion weapons. Two pairs of Northern European wheel-lock pistols are also worthy of note.
The edged weapons include Risorgimento swords and important Ottoman and Indo-Persian scimitars. Helmets and shields, also from Asia, a rare outfit worn by the Officer of the Bodyguards of Tsar Nicholas I, a significant group of European and Italian guns of remarkable rarity and high technical quality, are also of great interest.
The Haut Époque is well represented by an important seventeenth century cup hilt sword from Lombardy decorated with mascherons and swirl motifs.
Given the varied nature and large number of items up for auction, we feel certain to receive an extraordinary response from both Italian and international collectors.
