A .650 (16-Bore) Flintlock Baker Pattern Volunteer Rifle Early 19th Century Probably reconverted from percussion, with sighted barrel (some old rust patination and light pitting) rifled with seven spiral grooves and engraved 'LONDON' at the breech, plain tang, flat bevelled lock with 'GR' crowned and 'TOWER' across the lightly engraved tail, figured three-quarter stock (old bruising, minor area of damage on one side of the ramrod channel) with cheek-piece, regulation brass mounts comprising side-plate, butt-plate (some bruising) numbered '27' on the heel tang, spur trigger-guard, ramrod-pipes and fore-end cap, sling loops (one replaced), and replacement steel ramrod of the correct pattern, Tower private proof marks, indistinct barrelsmith's mark, perhaps of Henry Nock 74 cm. barrel Footnotes: Provenance The Penrose Collection For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
