REGENCY DUKE OF YORK ROYAL OPERA EMPHEMERA EARLY 19TH CENTURY including a cut steel key to the personal opera box of the Duke of York, Prince Frederick (1763–1827), the bow engraved to one side with a crowned cypher for George III and the other side 'The Duke of York'; together with a pair of gilt metal and purple leather opera glasses in a green leather case; and a yellow metal mounted walking stick, the top with engraved with cypher of a ‘Y’ crowned with a thistle topped coronet (3) the key 12.5m long, the cane 91cm long Provenance: By repute given by the Royal Household as a memento to Claudius (Claude) Francis Du Pasquier FRCS (1811-1897), apothecary to the Royal Household. He practised at 62 Pall Mall, and held in the Royal Household the appointments of Apothecary in Ordinary, Apothecary to the Prince Consort, Surgeon-Apothecary to Queen Victoria (after 1862), and at a later date Surgeon-Apothecary to the Household of the Prince of Wales. These items were then in turn passed from Du Pasquier through his wife as a gift to Charles Arthur Jones, great grandfather of the present vendor

'Lord Moira, rigid and impassive, stands in profile to the left, right hand on his tasselled stick, left hand on hip, wearing quasi-military dress with looped cocked hat and high boots. Clouds, so coloured as to suggest a distant conflagration, and a low horizon, curved as if to indicate the edge of the globe, form a background' (BM).

A VICTORIAN SILVER DESK STAND. Sheffield 1849, maker Henry Wilkinson & Co. with central taper stick flanked by two silver lidded clear glass inkwells, raised on a scroll pierced base with central crest depicting a greyhound in profile above motto "FESTINA LENTE", the opposing cartouche not engraved, with scroll cast feet, 28cm wide, 18.5cm deep, 16cm high, 19.7oz excluding inkwells.
3 examples of early 1940’s German Army Wehrpass’, all to casualties on the Eastern Front. To include: a 2nd type r example named to Obergrenadier Albert Waag, who was killed in Krepna, on the Russian / Ukrainian border aged 30, on October 14th 1944 while serving with Grenadier-Regiment 453. Plus, a 2nd type example named to Obershutze Karl Gelhing, who was killed in Koljewka, Russia at the age of 21. He was serving with the 5th Kompanie, Kradschutzen Battalion 29, having enlisted in December 1940. Also, a 3rd type example, named to Unteroffizer Kurt Weichel, who was killed in Russian on January 16th 1944, while serving with Grenadier-Regiment 485, at the age of 25. He was entitled to the Infantry Assault Badge in silver, West Wall Medal, Iron Cross 2nd class, Eastern Front Medal. His Wehrpass also notes that he his proficient with the K98 rifle, MG34, stick grenades, and the Luger P08. Each Wehrpass is complete with a riveted in place photograph of its former owner. Condition: generally good to each example. Normal service wear and minor soiling to the covers. The swastika to the cover on the Kurt Weichel piece would seem to have been obliterated, and has a pair of punched holes to the cover.
A selection of post WW2 1950’s double side RAF silk escape maps. To include examples for Herat and Bukhara, Bushire and Tehran, Baghdad and Basra, Rasht and Baku, Chelkar and Astrakhan, plus Kandahar and Makkran. Plus, a WW2 era German Panzer bronze grade assault badge stick pin, and a good quality late 19th century silver and rose gold Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee brooch, hallmarked for Chester 1896. The brooch features the young head and veiled head of Victoria, and her ascension date, golden jubilee date and diamond jubilee date. To the centre is rose gold shield of arms, and to the reverse is a hinged pin and C clasp. 8 items total. Condition: generally very good. The silk maps show very little wear, and remain folded as supplied. The German stickpin has some light contact marks to the finish from use, but is otherwise very good. The Victorian brooch has toned with age, but remains in good condition.
A trio of WW2 era German items To included: the Eastern Front Medal, or Russian Front Medal, the War Merit Cross with Swords, and a white metal SA stickpin, marked RZM M1/17 Both medals are complete with original ribbons. Condition: a little age related wear. The Eastern Front Medal has slight pitting to the surface on the reverse, and all over age patination. The War Merit Cross has darkened with age, but remains in good conditoin. The stick pin is also in good condition.
Good set of ten (9+1) 19th century yew and elm splat and stick backed Windsor elbow chairs with moulded seats on baluster turned legs with crinoline stretchers, nine low chairs plus one matching with slightly higher back. (10). (B.P. 21% + VAT) All structurally sound - usual wear and tear with age. All have crinoline stretchers intact. Generally good condition for age. Some have evidence of old woodworm.
Wooden walking stick or cane with a metal tip. The tip of the cane twists off to reveal a secret compartment containing a 17-inch long glass flask or tube.Height: 36 1/4 in x diameter: 1 in.Condition: The glass tube has two small cracks in the lid. The cork is deep in the neck of the tube and hasn't been removed. There is some discoloration/accretions to the interior of the tub. There are no splits, chips, or losses to the wooden cane. Some spots of discoloration. The metal tip is slightly loose. Some wear to the twist-off knob of the cane.
