Built in October 1952 it was bought by Somerset council in December that year and sent to Brigade Headquarter at Taunton Fire Station. The bodywork and red paint, as well as glass and wheels/tyres (new), are said to be in excellent order. New red seats complement an interior the vendor says is excellent throughout. The engine is said to be very good for starting, running and for presentation and the running gear is vendor-assessed as very good. This Land Rover has a good history file including documentation from Somerset Heritage Archives and Taunton Fire Brigade, as well as a memory stick with some restoration photographs. dating: Late 19th Century provenance: Japan, Shinogi zukuri blade (nagasa 45,5 cm, mediocre conditions). Nakago-mei with one mekugi ana. Copper habaki. Wooden, bamboo tsuka, with brass ring-nut. Bamboo stick-scabbard, with metallic foot. Interesting, unusual mounting shaped as sword-stick. length 63,5 cm.
dating: Late 19th Century provenance: Spain, Stick's foot provided with a small, iron mace head of four flanges and with a long, brass, engraved ring-nut. Wooden haft (woodworm holes). Leather-covered grip and with light horn pommel, can be removed revealing a cusp. Typical of the Basque Country. This is a Basque shepherd's walking stick designed to protect against wolves. height total 88,5 cm.
dating: Late 19th Century provenance: Europe, Straight, single-and short false-edged blade, with fuller, with tang marked 'TOLEDO' on one side. Wooden grip with hook release mechanism with button concealed in a wooden knot. White metal ring-nut, twisted. Angled, deer horn pommel. Wooden stick scabbard with knots, iron and white metal foot. Total length closed: 91.5 cm. length 56,5 cm.
dating: Late 19th Century provenance: Europe, Straight, nickel-plated blade, with fuller in the central segment and with a long tang of rectangular section. Cylindrical, wooden grip. Silver pommel, carved with floral motifs in bass-relief. Wooden stick-scabbard with metallic foot. Some veining on the wood. Total length closed: 88,6 cm. Unlocking the blade by rotating the grip. length 83 cm.
dating: 19th Century provenance: Europe, Stick's grip is composed of a very small, brass cannon (length 10.8 cm) with tapering barrel, with three mouldings and cascabel, back part with vent and remains of engraved Maltese cross. The cannon is mounted on a brass support that keeps it in perpendicular position to the stick. This one in wood, of tapering shape, with brass foot provided with two, turn-off segments: one probably to measure a small powder charge, one provided with a loading rod. Interesting. height total 89,5 cm.
