A BBC Exhibition Dalek from the promotion of the revived BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who. This version of the iconic alien was created for the BBC by Specialist Models, who were contracted to build two new models at the end of 2004. The outer shell of this Dalek was originally gold-coloured, and was subsequently refurbished and repainted black for the Doctor Who Up Close exhibition, held in several locations across the UK.The full-size model is constructed from a combination of cast resin and fibreglass, with grill detailing around the neck and hemispheres on the skirt. The body is predominantly black with a silver-coloured metal eye stalk, gun stick and an extendable plunger rod. A small switch is present on the rear of the dome that controls the eye stalk's blue light, and the two dome lights illuminate when the switch of its cabelled hand controller is pressed. The lights are powered by a 12v battery within the neck cage. The model is accompanied by an additional functional remote control box (powered by 8 AA batteries) and power unit, used to control the dome section's rotation, which was achieved via radio control servos. The Dalek displays scuffing on the base from previous handling and there is notable scratching and paint wear on the right side of the body, revealing the original gold-coloured paint. A hero George Gremlin puppet from Joe Dante's comedy-horror sequel Gremlins 2: The New Batch. George appeared several times during the film, most notably in the scenes in which he terrorised cooking show, "Microwave with Marge" and in the toy store where he smoked a cigar and tortured Gizmo. This puppet was used in scenes where the upper body was prominently featured and needed to include head and facial movement. The puppets were designed and created by Academy Award® winner Rick Baker and his team at Cinovation Studio. Made of foam latex over a metal-and-resin armature, the Gremlin features acrylic eyes and claws, as well as George's signature sinister snarl. George includes disabled puppetry mechanisms which were used by the puppeteers on set. Included is a wire-and-toggle stick which once controlled the eyes and eyelids. These have been disabled to protect the longevity of the puppet. The Gremlin also features a tube labelled "Smoke Tube", which would have been used when George was seen smoking a cigar. The puppet has been sympathetically restored by Brian Penikas (a member of the Creature Crew) and his team at Make-Up and Monsters Studios. It is presented on its original painted stand, and the original label has been preserved. The label describes the puppet as "Secondary foreground, George #3" and includes a list of attributes. Due to age and production use, George shows some wear, including cracks to the foam-latex skin. Dimensions: 30.5 cm x 40.5 cm x 76 cm (12" x 16" x 30")Special shipping required: see special shipping notice in the Buyer's GuideEstimate: £8,000 - 10,000 M
