A very fine knife dating: circa 1900provenance: NepalStraight blade, curved at the tip, with a single and a short false edge and a riser near the back; silver mount, elliptical flat hilt with a relieved border, engraved with bas-relieved floral patterns on the inside, filigree outer margins, the border is decorated with a line of green and red glass-paste and coral cabochons (one is missing); curved grip, worked en suite near the hilt, on the pommel are filigree floral patterns enriched with metal beads. Completely silver-plated wooden scabbard, decorated with three white jade spheres (one is missing) on each side, the end ones picturing grotesque masks and the central one, fretwork, picturing a human figure, all of which framed by glass-paste cabochon; on the cap is a similar frame; the chape is chiselled as a in-the-round dragon's head, on one side is a loop for the rings, fretwork and picturing a dragon.This knife is pictured in "Islamic Weapons Maghrib to Moghul" by Anthony C. A kandshar dating: 19th Centuryprovenance: IndopersiaSlightly curved, double-edged, damask blade with ribbed tip, grooved and raised at the centre of both faces, at the base a gold-inlaid floral cartouche; white jade grip, slightly curved, the pommel shaped as a horse head.dimensions: length 42,5 cm.
Jade grip and scabbard garniture of a Moghul kandshar, featuring gold and rubies dating: circa 1700provenance: India MoghulGrip in two parts, of beautiful pale green jade, decorated with golden flowers and branches and petals of rubies. The mounts of the scabbard, cap and chape, both decorated en suite. Most of the rubies and gilding is now missing, it now features 32 rubies and approximately 70% of gold, a small emerald at the pommel.Beautiful set deserving to be completed with the missing pieces.dimensions: height 13 cm.
