19th-early 20th century AD. A mixed group comprising: a triangular silver plaque with raised borders, applied loop, incised hatching and pointillé text; a silver-gilt twisted ring with three silver chains, each with a jade leaf dangle; a ribbed silver-gilt ring with three chains, each with a jade lanceolate dangle. 29 grams total, 6-14.5cm (2 1/2 - 5 3/4"). Property of a Warwickshire gentleman; formerly in the private collection of the famous actor Leslie Phillips; acquired 1950-1960. Born in 1924 in London, Leslie Phillips attended the Italia Conti Academy where he developed the slightly affected accent which became his trademark. He usually played a roguish, suave charmer, and also enjoyed successful comic roles in the early Carry On films and on radio’s The Navy Lark. He has appeared in more than fifty films, plays and TV series spanning six decades; and recently gained new fans through his appearances in the Harry Potter films. He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1998 Queen's Birthday Honours; promoted to Commander (CBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours. [3, No Reserve] Fine condition.
A FINE CARVED JADEITE PENDANT, the untreated certified jadeite carved as a dog standing on a diamond-set and princess-cut sapphire base, the whole mounted in unmarked white metal, circa 3.5cm long, and suspended on a white metal trace link chain interspersed with pearls, circa 44cm long. See illustration .This lot is accompanied by a Gem and Pearl Laboratory Report no. 06941 stating the carved jadeite to be natural jadeite jade with no evidence of treatment.
