20th century AD. A mixed group of silver-coloured metal finger rings of various types, each with an inset plaque of coral, glass, jade, haematite, amethyst, citrine, agate, carnelian, malachite or bloodstone. 207 grams total, 23-32mm (1 - 1 1/4"). Property of an Essex collector; acquired in UK, 1980s-2000. [35, No Reserve] Fine condition.
An undated gilt-bronze ruyi sceptre formed as a curved rod with jade and hardstone inserts to the upper face, recurved head with finial comprising two stylised fruit with leaves executed in jade and green hardstone inlay. 651 grams, 29 cm (11 1/4"). Property of a London Gentleman; acquired before 1975. A ruyi is a ceremonial sceptre associated with Buddhism and Daoism in China. The staff is S-shaped and represents either coral or a rhinoceros horn, whilst the head represents a cloud or lingzhi mushroom, symbol of long life. Fine condition.
HARRY NIXON AND CHARLES NOKE FOR ROYAL DOULTON; a rare "Chinese Jade" elephant oval brush washer, decorated with an elephant's head to one side, printed factory marks and signatures to the base, also stamped "4.2.29 8", 12 x 7.5cm. CONDITION REPORT: Crazing throughout and also there are some hairlines particularly to the inside of the dish. PLease see photos as this could be part of the design.
