A piece of mottled green jade 6.5cm and various pieces of Chinese carved export ivory including a ball in ball, 4cm, a cigarette holder carved as a dragon's claw and a paperknife, pierced and carved with a female figure (4) CONDITION REPORT: Paperknife 8cm age crack to blade, some small scratches and nibbles to end, slightly dirty otherwise ok Jade piece - as is_ Ball in ball, six layer including one layer damaged (piece missing). Some small tiny chips to holes on outer ring and a crack to hole on outer rim Cigarette holder - very fine hairline near mouth piece, otherwise ok
dating: 17th Century provenance: India Straight, single -and short false-edged blade with triple groove on both sides, on one side a mark shaped as an umbrella, two small inlays, and, on the back, a writing in Arabic, everything made of gold; beautiful, typically shaped hilt of fine wootz damask, richly decorated with fine, floral decorations in gold, wide guard with longitudinal micro grooves, disc-shaped pommel with a long, faceted beak on a beaded ring, turn-off tip. Grip with original, blue silk covering, almost entirely worn. Wooden scabbard with red velvet covering (mostly worn), silver chape featuring floral chiselling, probably later. Scarce and beautiful arm, the same mark is featured on a jade-hilted grip, worked for the Shah Jahan, India Moghul, 1620-1630, and illustrated in "Splendeur des Armes Orientales", ill. 149, from Samuel Morse's Collection. dimensions: length 104 cm.
dating: 19th Century provenance: Indopersia Curved, double-edged blade, slightly strengthened at the tip, pierced with movable beads (the so-called "Tears of the prophet") at the center; fine grip made of carved jade with grooves and garlands, the pommel featuring a gold-plated rose cut made of rubies. dimensions: length 35 cm.
dating: circa 1900 provenance: Nepal Wide, curved, single-edged blade with a fuller near the back, narrowed at the base; small, flat, white metallic quillon, grip with mother of pearl grip scales, ring-nut and pommel with jade plaques. Wooden scabbard with red velvet (worn) covering and white metallic mounts. dimensions: length 42 cm.
dating: circa 1700 provenance: India Moghul Grip in two parts, of beautiful pale green jade, decorated with golden flowers and branches and petals of rubies. The mounts of the scabbard, cap and chape, both decorated en suite. Most of the rubies and gilding is now missing, it now features 32 rubies and approximately 70% of gold, a small emerald at the pommel. Beautiful set deserving to be completed with the missing pieces. dimensions: height 13 cm.
dating: early 20th Century provenance: Indopersia Straight, single -and false-edged, damask blade, chiselled and enriched with silver-plated floral motifs at the base and at the back; light-blue, jade grip, the pommel chiselled as a lion head, iron ring-nut inlaid en suite. dimensions: length 35,5 cm.
dating: circa 1800 provenance: India Straight, single-edged blade made of fine wootz damask with a thin groove near the back; cylindrical, jade grip with iron base decorated with gilt floral motifs; wooden scabbard with a red velvet covering (fully worn and with small parts missing) and bronze hilts carved with floral motifs; remains of gilding. dimensions: length 26.5 cm.
A late 19th century brass and agate strutt clock, retailed by Carlisle and Watts, Hanover Street, Edinburgh, the oval clock with painted and applied jade foliage, the enamel dial with black Roman numerals 21½ x 17½cm (8 x 7in) There are a number of small losses to the applied foliage (see images), the painted stemwork is also rubbed, Movement untested.
