A Chinese Republic period spinach green jade Censer, with dragon mask and loose ring handles, the lid with Fu dog finial, raised on four paw feet, 7in (18cm) high, together with a mottled green Chinese teapot, the handle and spout modelled as dragon masks, the lid with two foliate handles, chased throughout with scrolling foliate decoration (2)
19th-20th century AD. A matched pair of carved finger rings, each a barrel-shaped hoop with cartouche bezel, the smaller in jade and the larger in agate. 14 grams total, 23-25mm overall (1). Property of a Warwickshire gentleman; formerly in the private collection of the famous actor Leslie Phillips; acquired 1950-1960. Born in 1924 in London, Leslie Phillips attended the Italia Conti Academy where he developed the slightly affected accent which became his trademark. He usually played a roguish, suave charmer, and also enjoyed successful comic roles in the early Carry On films and on radio’s The Navy Lark. He has appeared in more than fifty films, plays and TV series spanning six decades; and recently gained new fans through his appearances in the Harry Potter films. He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1998 Queen's Birthday Honours; promoted to Commander (CBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours. [2, No Reserve]. Fine condition.
A 9ct gold jade pendant, a cameo ring and pair of cameo earrings, a carved plaque ring, a 9ct gold ring and a 9ct gold garnet ring (6)Jade pendant - 19.2g gross. Cameo ring and earrings - 4.8g gross. Carved plaque ring - Finger size M, 2.3g gross. 9ct gold ring - Finger size W, 4.0g gross. Garnet ring - Finger size O, 4.0g gross.
dating: Late 19th Century provenance: Indopersia, Curved, double-edged blade, in fine damask, ribbed in the tip and with central raiser, slightly enlarged at the base. Remains of silver foils with floral decoration. Jade grip (probably a remounting) of celadon color, of slightly curved shape, upper end lobed and bearing a small, red color stone in the center, on both sides. Wooden scabbard covered with restoration velvet. length 32,5 cm.
dating: provenance: India, Curved, double-edged blade, in damask, two rectangular openings along the center, grooved inside to accommodate small metal spheres (some still present). By pulling the kandshar these spheres cause a sound known in poetry as 'Tears of the Wounded'. Base with remains of gold decorations. Nice, jade hilt chiselled with fine, bass-relieved flowers. length 43.5 cm.
