A COLLECTION OF ANTIQUE AND LATER JEWELLERY, to include a Victorian enamel and plaited hairwork memorial pendant, inscribed 'H.M. 5 May 1852' to reverse, a jade panel brooch and similar ear pendants, with pierced and carved decoration, (jade untested for treatments), two Victorian panel brooches, a diamond set locket pendant, a pair of 9ct gold cufflinks, an oval shell cameo brooch, a gentleman's dress set, and further items, first pendant length 3.2cm
Two jade snuff bottles, 19th/20th century, one carved as a group of enclosed leaves, the other as a double gourd carved on a leafy branch. 6.3 cm and 5.8 cm respectively (no stoppers). CONDITION REPORT: On the double gourd shaped snuff bottle there is a brown vein running through the snuff bottle and where it terminates at the top there is a very tiny nibble. Otherwise this is in good order throughout. On the folding leaf snuff bottle one leaf has a small nibble and a small chip. There is a small brown vein near the top on a branch and this has a natural flaw crack. There is a small white bruise mark to the underside of one petal approximately 3 mm in length and 1 mm wide. Other than those faults mentioned this item appears to be in good order throughout and with no obvious further faults or flaws. Neither snuff bottles has a stopper.
A Minton jade green Drunken Silenus relief moulded jug, 19th century, with applied sprig mark to the underside and impressed "No. 19". Height 20 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The left foot of the seated Bacchus has a small chip obliterating the little toe and second toe, other than that there are no obvious further faults. The jug rings out when lightly struck.
A carved jade figure of a monkey atop a horse, late 19th/20th century, the horse seated and backwards facing whilst the monkey clambers over its rear, on a carved wood stand, the jade a light brown to grey/green tone. Length 4.5 cm, height 3.3 cm excluding stand. NOTE - The auspicious monkey on horse Rebus can be read as Ma Schang Feng Hou which translates as May You Quickly be Made an Official or May You Quickly receive Promotion (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: There are no obvious faults. However one ear at the tip is slightly flatter than the other though this may just be due to the natural stone. The wood stand that accompanies it is also in good order.
An assortment of Chinese snuff bottles, 19th/20th century, to include a Famille Verte example relief moulded with eight deities amongst scrolling clouds, with four character Yongzhang mark, the reverse glass painting example, and three others. Tallest 8.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The large blue and white snuff bottle appears to be in good order with no obvious faults. There is a glass snuff bottle with red borders, this has a large broken section on the neck. Part of the red border on the foot is missing. There is a Y shaped crack at the bottom left hand corner on the reverse. There is a large crack running across the lower half of the reverse. The dragon snuff bottle with blue stopper is in good order throughout with no obvious visible faults. The snuff bottle with the jade stopper is in good order throughout, there are some small tiny nibbles to the rim, otherwise in good order. The snuff bottle with relief moulded Lohan - some of the glaze to the figures are rather rubbed, but there are obvious cracks, chips or flaws.
