Property from An Important Private CollectionTo Be Sold With No ReserveA Sasanian-style silver vase, the rounded body rising from the short foot to the waisted neck and short vertical mouth rim, the body worked in repoussé with two large roundels each containing a stylised bird with knotted scarf in a border of overlapping leaf-moitfs, the roundels divided by elegant tendrils enclosing palmettes and terminating in everted split palmettes, a pronounced raised wreath encircling the shoulder, the neck and mouth plain, 564 grams, 29.3cm. high Footnotes: This vase is very difficult to date but can be compared in decorative repertoire to Christie's 23 October 2007 Lot 135 and and example in L. Vander Berghe, Archaeologie de L'Iran Ancient, Leiden, E.J. Brill, 1959, Planche 6.

There is a Sterling Silver Cameo Brooch depicting a young lady, a Sterling Silver Marcasite Leaf Brooch and unmarked white metal Marcasite Bow Brooch that can be used as scarf clips too. There is also three bead necklaces, a base metal nine charm bracelet, three costume brooches and a Sterling Silver gilded pendant with a three leafed clover decoration in the centre. The Sterling Silver Cameo Brooch measures approx. 1 3/4 inches x 1 1/2 inches. The Cameo measures approx. 3.5cm x 2.5cm. The Sterling Silver Marcasite Leaf Brooch measures approx. 2 inches length x 1.5cm across. The unmarked white metal Marcasite Bow Brooch measures approx. 2 inches length x 1 inch. The pendant measures approx. 1 1/4 inches length x 1 inch width. The gross weight of the Sterling Silver is 26 grams. Condition: The Marcasite brooches have some missing stones. There is some stones missing on one of the costume necklaces.

See also lots 314,315 and 319 Condition Report: The canvas presents a subtle craquelure across the whole surface. UV light reveals an uneven varnish scattered across, most notable near the borders, and a few retouches at the edges of the canvas; the most evident retouch is on the upper edge, and measures about 5cm in width. Furthermore, a few but minor retouches are present on the left of the the right arm, and on the coloured scarf. Condition Report Disclaimer
