A LARGE CHINESE SPINACH-GREEN JADE MARRIAGE BOWL 18TH/19TH CENTURY The rounded sides carved to the exterior with a continuous lotus scroll, the two handles formed as pierced butterflies with their open wings resting on the slightly incurved mouthrim, each handle suspending a loose ring, the interior decorated in relief with a spray of peony and lingzhi, all raised on six short ruyi-head shaped feet, the green stone with black inclusions and areas of lighter and darker mottling, with a paper label for Spink & Son Ltd to the base, 30cm. TWO CHINESE PALE CELADON JADE PENDANTS QING DYNASTY One carved in openwork with a peach, pomegranate and finger citron growing amongst curling leaves, all contained within a moveable solid outer border, the other formed as a bi and decorated with two stylised dragons, 7.9cm and 7cm. (2) The peach, pomegranate and finger citron together form the auspicious san duo or the 'Three Abundances', invoking the wish for good fortune, longevity, and an abundance of descendants. A CHINESE CELADON JADE SQUARE-SECTION VASE, FANGGU QING DYNASTY The central protruding section raised on a splayed foot and surmounted by a tall flaring neck, the exterior carved in shallow relief with stylised banana leaves, archaistic motifs and fish, with taotie masks to the centre, all reserved on a finely incised key fret ground, the stone with some white inclusions and russet striations, 22.8cm. A Chinese Taoist 1st degree Priest's robe, Qing Dynasty, 18th century, silk and metallic thread embroidery on satin, the reverse on top of the large roundel containing a pagoda are a red sun with a gold crow on the left and a white moon with a jade rabbit on the right, white cranes, symbols of immortality, are embroidered all over the robe and along the bottom border is a mixture of different mythical animals, including blue and red dragons, unicorns, dragonfish, and a tortoise entwined with a snake (xuanwu), a mythical creature that symbolizes the north in the Chinese cosmic system and the front of the robe, with two panels along its collar embroidered with the blue dragon (symbol of the east) and the white tiger (symbol of the west), approximately 196cm x 122cm Provenance: Property of an English collector, mainly buying in Portobello market, and various places in London, in the early 1950's and 1960's. 清18世纪 刺绣一品道袍 拍品来源:英国私人收藏,主要于上世纪50-60年代购自伦敦

A Chinese white jade 'Happiness and Longevity' plaque, 18th century, Qing Dynasty, of quatrefoil form, one side elegantly carved with a paradise flycatcher resting on a prunus branch, the other side with an auspicious two-character inscription mei shou, all within a border of cloud scrolls and pierced at the top and the bottom, the stone of even white colour, the plaque 4.2cm long x 4.9cm wide x 0.5cm thick The plaque was later mountedon a French silver gilt box by Veuve Risler & Carré, 1838-1972, 1st standard, circa 1915, A. SQUARE JADE CONG, PROBABLY WESTERN ZHOU PERIOD, with wide circular hole to the centre with cylindrical rims, the extensively calcified stone with dark green and grey striations with mainly cream and pale biscuit stone, 26cm high Note: This cong belongs to a group attributed to Western China. Similar examples havbe been excavated from Shang Quancunin Shanti Province. These very plain congs may be compared to jades from Guanghan Ganxingdui in Sichuan Province. Literature: Myrma Myers in Radiant Stones, p74 when discussing a similar Tsung (Cong)says that a 20.5cm example was excavated near Xi'an c.1050 BC and associated with the ideal type of yellow cong used in the worship of earth. It has been suggested that these were artificially burnt when first made to make the colours more earthy.
SMALL TRANSLUCENT YELLOW JADE SAUCER DISH, QIANLONG PERIOD, finely carved as a formalised chrysanthemum flower, a slight brown marking to the edge, 11.25cm diam Note: an almost identical dish was sold by Christie's, 6th November, 2018, lot 52 for £6,000 (11.5cm), with a greater area of "caramel ruset". It is probably carved from the same jade boulder.
MOTTLED LIGHT AND BROWN HARDSTONE FIGURE OF A BIXIEH CHIMERA crouching looking forward, the details beautifully carved, 7cm long, Six Dynasties, fitted wood stand, signed and with Qianlong mark, in a beautifully fitted hardwood box. Literature: no. 11 in "Chinese Jades from Han to Ch'ing, James Watt, Asia Society, 1980 and "Chinese carved Jades" by Howard Hansford, plate 64. He states "as in most early animal sculptures the mouth is wide open, the ears are rounded in front and pointed at the back, the eyebrows and the single central horn are of the twisted rope type, the eyes point to the sides, the cheeks are prominent with fur markings along the edge (here at the back). Flowing ribbon-like wings extend from the forelegs". Probable provenance; the box has a paper label in Chinese "Jade from the collection of Pang Xu Zhai" (1864-1949), a famous collector
