A carved wood and jade table screen, the inset panel with pierced decoration possibly depicting the Hehe Erxian (restoration throughout), approximately 23 cm x 19 cm.Condition Report: The screen has suffered heavy damage (likely dropped) at some point and has been restored, there are several areas where glue is easily noticed, the inset panel looks to have been in two or three pieces before restoration and the repair is quite apparent.

TWO CHINESE JADE 'LOTUS' BRUSH WASHERS QING DYNASTY One worked in celadon jade as a large lotus leaf furling at the edges, the underside with a smaller leaf and a flower bud growing from a rhizome, with some brown inclusions in the stone, the other carved in white and russet jade as a large lotus flowerhead, the petals curling in at the rim, with a seed pod and a large leaf beside the bloom, the base with the remains of an old paper label, one with a wood stand, 7.5cm and 8.3cm. (3)
TWO CHINESE BROWN AND CELADON JADE CARVINGS QING DYNASTY One formed as a monkey climbing on the back of a reclining horse, the horse carved in a brown section of the stone, the monkey picked out in celadon, the other worked as a boy trying to pull away a recumbent water buffalo, with a calcified butterfly to the reverse, 3.9cm and 5.5cm. THREE SMALL CHINESE CIRCULAR BOXES AND COVERS QING DYNASTY One in brass, decorated with an inscription above prunus and bamboo branches, another in pale celadon jade, incised with a floral spray to the cover, the third carved in white and grey jade, together with a wood stand, 5.4cm max. (7)
TWO CHINESE PALE CELADON JADE CARVINGS QING DYNASTY One deeply carved with gourds growing from twisting vines, with a bat clinging on to one of the fruits, the pale stone with some russet markings, the other formed as a fish and a frog amongst variously shaped shells, the stone with some minor inclusions, 6.1cm and 4cm. A CHINESE CELADON JADE CONJOINED VASE AND A WHITE JADE BRUSH HOLDER LATE QING DYNASTY/REPUBLIC PERIOD The conjoined vase carved as a cylindrical vessel attached to a flattened two-handled vase raised on a flared foot, the cylindrical body decorated with an elephant beneath a plantain tree, the greyish stone with russet inclusions, the body of the white brush holder formed as bamboo, decorated in relief with an insect, frog and crane in a rocky landscape amidst pine and lingzhi, the pale greyish-white stone with some black flecks and russet markings, each together with a wood stand, 17.5cm and 14.3cm. (4) Provenance: formerly a private collection, London, formed c.1959-1963. Both purchased from Chuen Koo Chai Dealers in Ancient Chinese Arts & Curio, Hong Kong. The conjoined vase purchased on 16th November 1955. The white brush holder acquired on 4th December 1963. Copies of the invoices are available. A certificate of identity for the white brush holder dated 6th December 1963 from The Curios, Furniture & Miscellaneous Utensils & Hardware Merchants & Employees Association, Hong Kong & Kowloon, is also available. Lots 79-84 and 692-694 are all from the same collection.
A CHINESE CELADON JADE PEAR-SHAPED VASE AND A SPINACH-GREEN JADE VASE AND COVER MING AND QING DYNASTY The pear-shaped vase carved with a rocky landscape rich with with pine, prunus, bamboo, flowers and lingzhi, all raised on a flared foot, the spinach green vase decorated with taotie masks and pendant leaves, with ruyi-heads and key fret to the cover, together with a wood stand which suspends the vase's handle, 22.5cm and 22cm overall. (5) Provenance: formerly a private collection, London, formed c.1959-1963. Purchased from Chuen Koo Chai Dealers in Ancient Chinese Arts & Curio, Hong Kong, on 16th November 1955. A copy of the invoice is available. A certificate of identity for the spinach-green vessel dated 6th December 1963 from The Curios, Furniture & Miscellaneous Utensils & Hardware Merchants & Employees Association, Hong Kong & Kowloon, is also available. A CHINESE SPINACH-GREEN JADE BOWL 19TH CENTURY The deep bowl carved with straight sides, all raised on a short circular foot, the dark green stone with some pale inclusions and black speckling, 12.1cm. Provenance: from the collection of the late Hubert René Joseph Georges Faure (1919-2020). Hubert Faure was the first husband of Elizabeth (Bessie) de Cuevas, who married when she was nineteen. Bessie was the daughter of Margaret Rockefeller, granddaughter of John D Rockefeller. A bronze bird entitled Poule Cayenne by François Pompon (1855-1933) from the same collection was sold at Christie's Paris on 14th April 2021, lot 184.

A CHINESE BLACK AND WHITE JADE CARVING OF A LION DOG QING DYNASTY The beast depicted lying down with its head turned to the right, it clutches a brocade ball with its two front paws, grasping a swirling ribbon between its fangs, detailed with bulging eyes and a bony spine, its body finely incised with simple scrolls, 5.2cm.
