(1)* Hester, only child and heir of James Coghill of Drumcondra Dublin, L.L.D., and Judge of the Prerogative Court. James was younger brother of Marmaduke and son of Sir John of Drumcondra. She married in 1737, Charles 2nd Baron Moore Moore, who in 1758 was created Earl of Charleville. His titles became extinct when he died without issue in 1764. Soon after, she married Major John Mayne, who had come to Ireland as a protégé of the Lord Lieutenant, the Duke of Northumberland. The English Chronicle wrote of him: "[He was] remarkably handsome in person, mild and engaging in his manners; … he got a large fortune with this lady, and enjoys it with great esteem."On inheriting the Coghill property in right of his wife, Mayne changed his name to Coghill and was created a baronet in 1781. However, he died without issue in 1785, and after his wife's death in 1789 the estate passed to her cousin Sir John Cramer, who changed his name to Coghill and is the ancestor of the later Coghill baronets.Attributed to Ozias Humphrey (1742-1810) and obviously painted after her first marriage in 1737 and before her second one.
