THREE CHINESE ARCHERS' RINGS AND A JADE SWORD SLIDE QING DYNASTY AND LATER The largest ring carved in white jade with a sinuous chilong, another in hardstone worked with lingzhi and fruit, the third in a mottled celadon jade, a dark yellow jade sword slide decorated with archaic C-scrolls and rows of raised bosses, 4.9cm max. A LARGE CHINESE ARCHAISTIC BRONZE VESSEL AND COVER, GUI QING DYNASTY OR LATER The sides decorated with mythical birds with coiled bodies, reserved on a leiwen ground and flanked by a pair of loop handles issuing from the beaks of phoenix, the interior cast with archaistic script, with a reticulated wood cover with jade finial, 5kg, 34cm. A CHINESE JADE BI DISC AND A JADE HALBERD BLADE, GE POSSIBLY WARRING STATES PERIOD The disc carved on each side with nodes, the greyish stone with russet striations, the blade incised with scrolls, the stone of a yellowish olive tone and with extensive malachite encrustations, with a fitted box and cover, 9.8cm and 18.3cm. TWO CHINESE JADE ITEMS AND A ROCK CRYSTAL INCENSE BURNER AND COVER QING DYNASTY One jade item a bi worked in relief with a chilong holding lingzhi, the mythical beast picked out in a calcified section of the stone, together with a wood stand, the other jade item carved as a twin-handled cup, with chilong masks to the handles, the rock crystal incense burner decorated with a band of archaistic motifs, with four stylised phoenix medallions to the cover, carved in relief to two sides with handles formed as lingzhi, 11.3cm max. FIVE SMALL CHINESE ARCHAISTIC CELADON JADE CARVINGS PROBABLY QING DYNASTY Comprising: a xi terminating in a dragon head, a square-section le incised with stylised human faces, and three pendants, one formed as a recumbent dragon, another as a reclining pig, the third carved as a stylised figure, the stone of each with some calcification, 7.6cm max. (5) Provenance: from the collection of David Taylor (1876-1958) and thence by descent. David Taylor was a successful businessman of Scottish descent who was born in Northern Ireland. He resided in Belfast and owned various commercial buildings, shops and a farm. He also had a substantial portfolio of stocks and shares. These jade items were acquired by Taylor during his travels to East Asia in the early 20th century.

Provenance: from an English private collection, Kent, mostly acquired between 1970 and 1990.

A CHINESE BLACK AND CELADON JADE CARVING OF XUANWU PROBABLY MING DYNASTY The mythical turtle with a single horn, bifurcated tail, and a snake curled on its back, the mottled dark stone of grey and celadon inclusions, 16.3cm. Provenance: formerly in an English private collection, Sussex, acquired in the 1990s. Xuanwu, the Guardian of the North, is one of the Four Symbols of the Chinese constellations. The combination of tortoise and serpent were spiritual creatures symbolising protection and longevity.
