19th Century Irish School"Head and Shoulder Portrait of Myles Byrne," O.O.C., depicting a young Gentleman with curled hair, sporting a black velvet jacket and scarf with a harp emblem, approx. 30cms x 23cms (12" x 9") inscribed on reverse, later gilt frame. (1)* Myles Byrne was born in 1780, he was a leader in the Irish Rebellion of 1798 and went on to be Chef de /Bataillon in Napoleons Irish legion, a native of Wexford, he died in 1862 in Paris.
Outstanding Headdress and Tunic Grouping of a Royal Engineers Officer Serving with the 44th Indian Airborne Division, consisting of 1941 dated officers “Bombay Bowler” foreign service helmet having a wonderful heavily embroidered theatre made pagri badge in the form of white parachute canopy set upon felt colours of the Royal Engineers. Helmet is complete with its original sweatband to the interior; 1942 dated Bush / Slouch cap again with fine quality embroidered theatre made pagri badge in the same style as that on the foreign service helmet. This cap showing much more service wear than the foreign service helmet; Scarce Indian made brimmed jungle cap with worn and faded silk regimental ribbon pagri flash; Jungle issue shirt / tunic which has pinned to the breast pocket a fine quality far east made parachute qualification wing, to each arm printed 44th Indian Airborne Division Pegasus formation signs and slip-on Royal Engineers majors rank slides. Tunic is complete with the original buttons and belt. The set is all housed in the officers original brown leather travel case which contains various items of equipment including his 3rd pattern Fairbairn Sykes (F.S) Commando Knife housed in its original leather scabbard, camouflaged neck scarf, coloured lanyard, officers whistle, webbing waist belts, plus other items. A truly fantastic grouping of items.

Burgess 14 Artillery Lane, Bishopsgate, each approx. 27cm square, along with Elizabeth II commemorative coronation satin scarf, polychrome printed with stripes, lions, crowns and dated 2 June 1953. 30cm by 138cm.
