Um 1900Sign.: Hôshû Shômin horu und goldenes Topfsiegel: KoshoDie runde Platte wird fast ganz eingenommen vom frontalen Brustbild des chinesischen Dämonenjäger Shôki mit grimmigem Ausdruck und nach oben gerichtetem Blick, Sein Gewand ist mit Drachen und Wolken in katakiri-Gravur geschmückt, der lange Bart fällt über den Jade-besetzten Gürtel, während an seiner Schulter der Drachenkopfgriff seines um den Rücken gebunden Schwertes hervorschaut. Nur kleine Details sind in Silber, shakudô, shibuichi und Gold eingelegt. Rand in Gelbmetall gefasst. In originalem, schwarz lackiertem Rahmen.Shôki, ein ehemals erfolgloser Beamtenkandidat, wurde der chinesische Legende nach zum unermüdlichen Jäger von unheilbringenden Teufeln und Dämonen. Hier verkörpert er durch das grimmige Aussehen und seinen wilden Bart seine energische Entschlossenheit die Welt von Übeltätern zu befreien. Die runde Bildtafel in originalem Rahmen stammt von Unno Shômin (1844-1915), einem der berühmtesten Metallkünstler seiner Zeit. Er lernte das kinko-Handwerk bei seinem Vater Unno Yoshimori (1785-1862) und Hagiya Katsuhira (1804-1886) in Mito, ein Lehen in der heutigen Präfektur Ibaraki. Als er kurz nach 1868 nach Tokyo übersiedelte, änderte er seinen Namen von Kihei zu Shômin. Das Gesetz zum Verbot des Schwertertragens (haitôrei) von 1878 und 1881 traf ihn als kinko-Meister besonders, da er somit seine fürstlichen Aufträge verlor. Trotzdem nahm er an der Ersten Nationalen Industrie-Ausstellung 1877 teil und zeigte u. a. Figuren. Für die dritte Ausstellung 1890 schuf er die bugaku-Skulptur des Ranryôô, die von Kaiserlichen Haushalt erworben wurde. Auch sein auf der Weltausstellung in Paris 1900 gezeigtes Exponat befindet sich im kaiserlichen Sannomaru shôzôkan.
