A Victorian Scottish walnut bowfront marine stick barometer and gimbal, the moulded cornice above ivory dials with vernier scales, inscribed "P. A. Feathers, 26 Dock Strt, Dundee", above two bone adjusters, the body inset a barometer to foliage carving and a brass well, on a brass and walnut bracket, 3ft 1in (94cm) h. Peter Airth Feathers was at 26 Dock St. from 1853-63. During the 19th century Dundee was an important Whaling port.
