Ackermann & Co., London, [1833], comprising six hand-col. aqua. discs depicting a bell ringer, a juggler, a circus horse, a cyclist, and an old woman beating her husband with a stick, each approx. 9.5 in (24 cm) diameter, loosely contained in orig. linen-backed marbled boards with pict. label to upper cover and printed instructions pasted inside front cover, split on spine and ties perished, square 4to An early animation device, similar to a phenakistoscope, predecessor to the zoetrope. The user would spin the disc and look through the moving radial slits at the disc's reflection in a mirror, and see a rapid succession of images with the appearance of a motion picture. Simmons. 1985' and concealed blade trigger, horn 'crook' grip. The gun was completed circa 1984 and appears to be little used

A FINE .410 (3IN MAG) SNAKESKIN-COVERED WALKING STICK SHOTGUN BY JOHN WILSON, serial no. 661, 26 1/2in. nitro barrel, 3in. chamber, gold-coloured acanthus-scroll engraved collar with blank escutcheon and concealed blued push-button trigger, with marked 'safe' position, the gun was completed circa 1987 and appears to be virtually unused (see lot 370 for illustration)

ETIENNE 12-BORE LEATHER-COVERED WALKING STICK SHOTGUN, serial no. 872, 28 1/4in. black powder only barrel, 2 1/2in. chamber, horn handle, white metal plated collar with ropework and engraved 'R. Borg', push-button trigger, manual cocking pin, wood and brass detachable skeletal shoulder stock (wood casing can be removed to expose skeletal steel stock), tip and spare tip with integral tweezers / cocking piece. The gun bears a strong resemblance to the Manufrance 'Etoile' walking stick gun. The gun dates to circa 1912 and comes with a photocopy of the recommended charges to be used in the gun and an original photo of the gun in use by a previous owner Footnote: Please note VAT at 17.5% is applicable on the hammer price and buyers premium (see lot 370 for illustration)
