A jewelled ivory figure possibly Dieppe late 19th century carved as a jaunty cavalier his boots gloves collar and sash mounted with collet-set polychrome gemstones lacking sword and stick height 29.7cm 11.75in. on a stepped wood plinth The origin of these types of figures is arguable. While this object appears likely to have come from Dieppe its having been mounted with polychrome gems in this way suggests the work of Hungarian craftsmen.
