A George III/IV mahogany stick barometer, the 19cm silvered register signed F.A Pizzala, inscribed 6 Bircham Lane, Royal Exchange, mercury thermometer, the case of plain design, stepped cornice, turned cistern cover, 97cm high, c.1830 Francis Augustuis Pizzala belonged to a numerous and notable dynasty of North Italian barometer makers, being the second generation of his family to work in London, at Leather lane, 1830/40.
