A rare Alarm Stick gadget cane late 19th century, the engraved and pierced brass knop in two parts on a banded collar, the upper section embossed with scrolling floral motifs and with a central circular mesh grille through which the user blows to operate the alarm, the lower half pierced in an interlinked Anthemion design, the siren within stamped '7446' with the patented name 'Eureka' in Greek script, mounted on a tapering rosewood shaft, 35in. (89cm.) long.

A rare silver chamber stick gadget cane top Birmingham 1890, maker's mark 'JN', in the form of a ball attached to a tapered stem, the stem unscrewing and attaching to the side of the ball to form a chamberstick, the inside of the stem vacant to hold a candle, the ball section with a hinged striker plate, opening to reveal storage space for matches, 6in. (15cm.) long.
