A Chinese export lacquer and painted fan, the shaped sticks with two bands of decoration of birds amidst foliage and figures in palace landscapes, the figures with painted and applied ivory heads, 20in (50.5cm) open, in a fitted box, box distressed, with printed label HUAIQUIT ABAXICO; a 19th century pierced and carved ivory fan with silver and gilt decoration, with printed and painted paper leaf, figures in garden and rural landscapes; another with ivory sticks with a printed and painted paper leaf figures in a rural landscape, the reverse with a young couple on steps, one stick missing; another 19th century with pierced ivory sticks printed and painted Venus, one stick missing and one damage; and three others in ivory, mother of pearl and tortoiseshell, with a Chinese box and another with printed labels for Laceman, 81 Oxford Street. A World War I casualty group awarded to 2148 trooper David Forshaw, of The Royal Horse Guards who was killed on the 4th January 1917 aged 21. He is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery. This lot comprising medals consisting of 1914-15 Star, 1914-18 medal and Great War of Civilisation medal, all in original packets of issue, also including is his memorial plaque complete with original cardboard packet. Also included are photographs of Trooper Forshaw in parade uniform consisting of breast plate, sword and helmet, newspaper cuttings, numerous other photographs including one of him on horseback with three others, a memorial card with enclosed photograph, memorial scroll with original cardboard sleeve, a memorial poster with a picture of Etaples cemetery etc (af), Trooper Forshaw`s stick with his initials DF and RHG carved onto the shaft, a large oval framed photograph of Trooper Forshaw and two others etc. Included in this lot is some research regarding his death and including photographs of the cemetery etc (illustrated)
