The late 19th century archive of Dr. Henry Clarke M.D. Clarke devoted most of his working life to serving the needs of the inmates of Wakefield Prison. The archive comprises: a group of academic and medical certificates; a group of 56 original glass lantern slides by Dr. Clarke showing Cardigan and environs, and figure and art studies including a self-portrait; 24 original engravings circa 1881; an album of silhouette images by Dr Clarke inscribed Wakefield 1900; a folio of platinotype photographs and hand-drawn artwork illustrating `Daybreak` by Longfellow inscribed Wakefield 1886; a group of 4 sketchbooks containing numerous pencil and ink drawings by Clarke and his daughter with other artwork, photographs, ephemera; an album of press cuttings on Clarke; 12 Welsh landscape photographs by Clarke printed on silk, his brass field microscope and silver-topped ebony walking stick engraved with monogram HC
