John Sheldon, a rare leather cased patent escritoir, the tooled leather case with gilt lettering and with a further outer tooled claret leather case, the interior lid printed 'John Sheldon's Escritoir Almanack (sic) for 1851', the fitted interior with a hinged 'T' section, marked for 'postage stamps, inkstand, wax lights, gum or other wafers', with original silver plated combination seal/ coin and letter scale, inscribed 'John Sheldon', with folding inkstand, wax light containers and taper stick and an open section for assorted pens, waxes and nibs, 14.5 x 10.5cm John Sheldon, inventor & maker of pencils, pens & steel toys (working 1833-1858, died 1864). Held Design Registrations for pens that incorporated postal spring balances, Nos.66, 1127, 1184 and 1207 of 1842, No.716 of 1843 and No.3507 of 1853. Exhibitor at Great Exhibition 1851. Made scales for the USA.

Fully detailed featuring opening rear engine cover revealing detailed engine, opening doors with fully detailed interior including seat belts, moveable gear stick, pedals, operating steering, moveable seats etc. Plus windscreen wipers, mirrors, opening front bonnet with pop up lights and steerable front wheels fitted with suspension. Painted in ‘Italian Racing Red’. VGC minor cleaning required.

Graf von Zeppelin’s Walking Stick. Presented to him by Hugo Eckener, probably to commemorate 5 years of operations of the experimental military Zeppelin LZ3, which was launched on the 9TH OCTOBER 1906. This ebony stick measures 84.5cm and is fitted with a curved silver grip which is signed by (engraved) Hugo Eckener, dated 9th October 1911 and is furnished with Count von Zeppelin’s family crest. Together with a top hat with a ‘Z’ gold thread cypher inside, believed to belong to Graf Zeppelin. See Plate 28
