An historically interesting hall stand made from part of a WWI propeller, reputedly from the Cuffley “Zeppelin” (actually Schutte-Lanz S L II), comprising the massive 10½” steel boss, to which is attached one of the laminated wooden blades which has been reshaped and cut down to 62” (measured from the centre of the boss), the outer edge of the hub stamped “22428/ Axial/ Edulzug/ 260 PS D310 ST 180/ TP999”, mounted as the back of a walking stick/ umbrella stand. GC; together with a label stating that the propeller was from the Cuffley Schutte-Lanz SL 11, brought down by 2nd Lieut Leefe Robinson in September 1916, and was owned by the late Capt Manning, late of the Air Ministry; also a small archive of letters and articles relating to the Cuffley “Zeppelin”, and to 2nd Lieut Leefe Robinson. One letter in particular identifies the markings, “Axial” being the manufacturer, and 260 P.S. referring to the horse power, which could apply to Mercedes DIVa engines (for giant aircraft) or Maybach Mb IVa (for aircraft or airships), the S L II being fitted with the latter. 2nd Lieut W Leefe Robinson shot down SLII on the night of 2-3rd September 1916, being the first airman to shoot down a German airship in WWI, for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross, £3,500 in prize money, and a silver cup donated by the people of Hornchurch. Hitch later lived in Chiswick, on his death in 1913 he was buried in Chiswick Old Cemetery.

A Victorian stick barometer, with thermometer, signed Yeates & Son, Dublin, in a carved oak case, 104 cm high Condition report Report by RB Both bevelled glass panels in good condition, the ivory register chipped to the right of the tube at the top, and is now lodged in the lower left hand corner, there is mercury in the tube although we cannot guarantee it works, there is possibly a moulding missing to the arched top, which I suspect may have been glued as there is a difference in colour and I can see no sign of any pinholes. From a local private client this is in a market fresh condition
George III inlaid mahogany stick barometer, the engraved silvered dial with Masonic emblems and signed Bapt Ronchate & Co Fecit (probably Givoanni Battista Ronchetti), 95cm long Clearly heavily modified, the mercury tube goes straight through the name at the top of the silvered dial so it is obviously been modified in this area, mouldings are replaced, reservoir cover is replaced etc - We do not guarantee the workings of baromete

Pair of 19th Century brass candlesticks, each having a cast sconce, chased tapered cylindrical column and standing on a cast trefoil base with grapevine decoration and with paw feet, 31.5cm high One stick rather bent above the base, this would appear just to be the steel connecting rod as the sticks are formed from many elements stacked on one another with a central steel core, rubbing to the gilding on both - ** General condition consistent with
