Ltd., 25th October 2003, a copy of the invoice is available.The motive of twin fish denotes a happy marriage, fish eggs are a symbol of many offspring and when combined with aquatic plants they express the hope for the early arrival of offspring.
A SMALL CHINESE JADE SNUFF BOTTLEQIANLONG 1736-95Attributed to the Beijing Palace workshops, the pale greyish stone well carved depicting a carp transforming into a dragon, with fins to the back and the sides, the scales incised, 4.5cm.Provenance: an English private collection, formerly from the collection of Mei Lin, purchased from Robert Kleiner & Co. Ltd., 20th June 2000, a copy of the invoice is available.The dragon carp is a symbol of a candidate passing the Imperial examinations and qualifying as an official. This is based on the carp which were observed swimming up the Yellow River to leap the Longmen Falls, an extremely arduous task, upon successful completion of which the fish were transformed into dragons.
A SMALL CHINESE GOLD-SPLASHED INCENSE BURNER17TH/18TH CENTURYThe rounded rectangular body cast with a band of dragons divided by shou characters, the sides mounted with animal mask loop handles, and raised on a flared foot, the body with a brownish patina with gold splashes, the base with a six character Xuande mark, together with a wood cover with a jade finial, inscribed zhi yin, 439g, 12.5cm. A CHINESE JADE 'PRUNUS' CUP AND A JADE FIGURE OF A HORSE AND A BOYQING DYNASTYThe cup with a prunus branch handle and two birds amidst flowering branches, the horse and boy group of a celadon-grey jade, the boy holds a ruyi-sceptre and stands beside a seated horse with a vase on his back, 8cm and 6.5cm. (2)Provenance: by repute, both acquired from Christie's, the cup on 9th December 2000, the horse and boy on 17th August 2000.
TWO CHINESE JADE CARVINGSHAN DYNASTY AND 19TH CENTURYThe flattened celadon jade cicada of an even tone; the other an archaistic axe-shaped pendant, the shaft surmounted by a sinuous chilong, the rounded blade incised with kui dragons and stylised scrolls, the pale stone with feathery russet markings, 6cm and 5.9cm. (2)Provenance: the cicada, formerly in the collection of Professor Cheng Te-K'un, acquired from Bluett's on 11 December 1990 and dated by Bluett's to the Han dynasty, later purchased from Bonhams London, 14 May 2012, part of lot 253; the axe pendant formerly from the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, then purchased from Christie's New York, 18 March 2009, part lot 461.

ROANOID FOR ROXON; a rare 1930s Art Deco tennis ball ashtray with three bakelite retracting arms, produced for Dunlop Rubber as a sports promotion, height 8cm, stamped Dunlop.Condition Report: Light surface wear and scratches, small hairline crack below one of the rotating arms to the jade coloured bakelite, otherwise good condition.
A 19th century small Chinese jade carving of a seated crane, his head turned over his back, and further carved with fruit and leaves, length 6cm. PROVENANCE; when purchased, this was purported to have been purchased by H. J. Siegel from Spink, in the late 1960s.Condition Report: Age wear rubbing to the detail but overall ok.
