A Japanese carved ivory group of a noblewoman and two children, Meiji period (1868-1912), the woman seated open a rocky outcrop, dressed in robes and holding a fan, two boys at her feet with unusual top knot hairstyles, one holding a stick with a bird perched atop, with oval base, 6in. (15.25cm.) high, on a pierced hardwood stand inlaid with silver wire., *Condition: Dirty and would benefit from cleaning. Two feet on stand have been off and reattached - some of the silver wire around these breaks is either off or lies loose atop the wood. The ivory very good with no damage.

Steward, 459 West Strand London', a mercury thermometer to the left and sliding vernier scale to the right, over a flat trunk with mercury tube and turned cistern cover to the base, 36in. (91.5cm.) high., *Condition:Ivorine yellowed. One of brass claws holding top of thermometer missing but still secure. Brass fitting securing top of main tube a little dented. Needs cleaning.
