Vor hellem, teils skizzenhaft bläulichem Hintergrund das Brustbildnis einer jungen schönen schwarzhaarigen Frau, die einen orange-roten Schal mit leicht roten und grünen Farbflecken um ihren Hals und ihr tiefgehendes Dekolleté überhängen hat. Sie hat strahlende blaue Augen, einen leuchtend roten, leicht geöffneten Mund und blickt nach rechts seitlich aus dem Bild heraus. Malerei im Stil der Fauves in raschem flottem Pinselduktus, dabei der leuchtende Mund und der Schal gegenüber dem Hintergrund besonders hervorgehoben. Anmerkung:Der französische Maler wird dem Kreis der Fauves zugeordnet, er ging 1896 nach Paris und studierte dort im Atelier von Gustave Moreau (1826-1898), wo er auch Albert Marques (1875-1947) kennenlernte. 1902 machte er die Bekanntschaft mit Cezanne (1839-1906). Er schloss sich den Fauves zwar an, war aber kein überzeugter Fauvist. The front part with the orders' ribbons: Military of Savoy, Mauriziana Medal, of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, of the Crown of Italy, Seniority Cross, Cross of War Merit, commemorative medal of the wars for the Unity and Independence of Italy, commemorative medal of the Unification of Italy; above the ribbons a badge for a promotion. Gibson was awarded the Victoria Cross for gallantry and became the most highly decorated British serviceman at that time. He completed over 170 war operations before he was killed in action at the age of 26. Air Vice Marshal James Edgar Johnson, CB., CBE., DSO. & Two Bars, DFC, & Bar, DL. (1915-2001) nicknamed Johnnie, was an English Royal Airforce pilot and the highest scoring Western Allied fighter ace against the German Luftwaffe. Johnson served in the Korean War before retiring in 1966 with the rank of Air Vice Marshal.Wing Commander John Robert Baldwin, DSO. & Bar, DFC. & Bar, AFC. (1918-1952) was a Royal Airforce fighter pilot and top scoring fighter ace who also flew Hawker Typhoon during WWII. He went missing during secondment service with the United States Airforce in the Korean War and was presumed killed.1254 Squadron, serving the Godalming and Guildford areas, was one of the first Air Training Corps established in 1941. A vintage Hermes scarf, Le Timbalier, silk with hand stitched edges, +/- 88 cm square. CONDITION REPORT: The scarf is free from any tears or holes. It has clearly been folded for several years and there are some stains and marks to the extremities. If you look carefully at our image you will see some strange marks around the bottom left-hand corner and underneath the lowest hoof. These appear else where on the piece but it is almost as if the imprint from something else or the colours have slightly run. These marks are evident at regular intervals all over the piece.
