A Chinese celadon jade carving, Qianlong period, carved as a two horned mythical beast with feline features, biting the longer of its bifurcated tails as it crouches on its four paws, its gnarled back bone and ribs finely worked in the predominantly green celadon stone with russet flecks, length approx 9.5cm, with wood stand. Provenance: accompanied by a receipt from John Sparks, dated 27th June 1952. (See illustrations on front and back covers and inside pages)
A Chinese pale celadon jade brush washer, Qianlong period, naturalistically carved as a large lotus leaf resting on its own and three other severed tendrils, two rising to one side as leaf and flower, the interior revealing a pair of cat fish swimming nose to tail, the stone of translucent greenish grey transparency, length approx 14.3cm (minor chips), resting upon an intricate lotus carved wood stand. Provenance: accompanied by a photocopy of a receipt from John Sparks, dated 27th June 1952. (See illustrations on back cover and inside pages)
