Two Chinese snuff bottles 19th century, the first in smoky quartz, of flattened squat ovoid form with opposing dummy mask handles carved in low relief to the sides and a green jade stopper, 8.5cm. high, together with another of similar form, in rock crystal with dummy mask handles and later wooden stopper, on a gilt metal stand, 7.5cm high (2).
A graduated Oriental jade bead necklace, approximately 8mm - 10.5mm in size, with dispersed fluted gold beads and a fluted gold bead safety clasp. A detachable jade and diamond set pendant centrepiece, a carved and pierced jade plaque depicting a bird and fruit, with diamond set bands to the frame. The mount marked 18K 750 and tested as approximately 18ct gold. The clasp marked 585 and with the fluted beads tested as approximately 14ct gold. Maker`s mark AJF coincides with original silk packaging named Aberdeen Jewellery Factory Ltd.

A Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Snuff Bottle, 19th century, of ovoid form, painted with a standing figure of Dung-Shien of the Han Dynasty (326BC), the reverse with an extract of the story, 7.6cm high; Another Similar Bottle, painted with a warrior, no stopper, 7cm high; and Two Blue and White Snuff Bottles, 19th century, one depicting a warrior holding a fan, with tiger`s eye stopper, the other with warriors holding a banner in a mountain landscape, with jade type stopper, 8.8cm and 7.4cm high respectively (4). Bottle 1-the story of Dung-Shien is illustrated in Li (Raymond) Chinese Snuff Bottle Themes, Popular Stories and Fables, pg.74. Dung-Shien was a very handsome young man and a great favourite of the Emperor. The story illustrates a favourite Chinese theme "Human Weaknesses of Persons in High Places".
