An unusual early 19th century hallmarked silver chamber stick and snuffer in the form of a rose stem upon a lobed circular base with scalloped edge, the conical-shaped snuffer modelled as leaves, Birmingham assay marks, base diameter 10cm, total weight approx. 131g Provenance: This has come privately from a good source and been in the family ownership for many years. The detachable conical shaped snuffer – the very top of the snuffer is bent over slightly although this may be the way it was made. The rest of the snuffer looks in good original order with the veins on the leaves nice and crisp etc. The main snuffer itself is highly unusual and is good general overall original condition. The handle is hallmarked with the lion passant and a Georgian head and the conical shaped snuffer is also hallmarked and the leaves also have crisp texturing and veins do not exhibit any real signs of wear. The underside of the piece is dark a little around the edges (tarnished) but would probably clean off, the edge of the piece has two scallops which present scratched “Pawnbroker style” numbers/letters to the underside and the nut holding the tendril stem onto the splaying base is fairly worn to the underside but looks original. Overall a nice unusual piece. Fairly heavy in the hand and in good order.
A sundry jewellery group to include a yellow-metal brooch set with three citrine style stones, a modern gilt pill box, a small buckle-style brooch, a late 19th/early 20th century circular silver-plated badge decorated repoussé style with cupid playing the pan pipes, circular abalone-style earrings, further stud earrings set with cabouchon green stones, a stick pin, the terminal modelled as a horseshoe, two ring Russian-style wedding band, a 9-carat yellow-gold stick pin modelled as a bow and one further 9-carat rose-gold stick pin modelled with seed pearls in the initial 'R' (small selection)
A leather-cased stick pin, rose-gold-coloured pin (marked) and the finial with a white-metal bird crested with red enamel and studded with diamond chips Looking at this under a loupe there are no problems noted. This has come privately and appears in good honest original condition. The length of the bird is approx. 17mm. Gross weight is approx. 2.33g.
A tribal-style walking cane, the terminal carved as a woman with beehive hair cut and a baby clinging to her back, 98cm The wood appears very dark and quite well patinated and shows genuine signs of considerable age. There is a child with arms and legs holding the back of the female and the main shaft appears to be without splits or reparations. It looks as if the walking stick/weapon was once possibly dyed red. This is evident in the upper section mostly where it meets her rear left leg and also on the bottom section. Provenance: The piece has come privately and been in the same family ownership for many years and there has been a good deal of interest in this lot. Being super critical the full length cane is bowed slightly but apart from this everything else appears to be in good original condition.
