HAND MADE WALKING STICKS - BRIAN BANNISTER a collection of 8 walking sticks made by Brian Bannister, including one with a carved Rams horn handle, two walking sticks with antler handles, one with a Hazel wood knob, and various other examples. Rams Horn stick 117cms long. (8) *Brian Bannister was a walking stick maker based in Cumbria, who also ran courses on the craft. These walking sticks have come directly from the family.

A rare early 20th century Boer War Prisoner Of War / POW carved walking stick cane. The elongated tapering shaft carved to top ' Made By - POW - St Helena - 1901 '. A rare an interesting POW cane. Measures approx; 90cm long. During the South African War of 1899 to 1902 the British took as many as 20 000 prisoners, resulting in overcrowded prisoner of war camps in South Africa. Those camps which were situated in the Cape Colony also became particularly vulnerable to attack by enemy forces. These difficulties influenced the decision to ship prisoners to Bermuda, India, Ceylon (present-day Sri Lanka) and the island of St Helena.
A WWII Second World War British Military Home Guard refashioned / improvised walking stick cane with spike point lance by Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London. The lance being latter fitted to a lacquered cane staff with hooked handle and the lance head having a steel screw fitted cap to the end to conceal the spike. Measures; 93cm.
An 18th Century Chinese blanc-de-chine figure of Guan Yin with child upon her knee, dragons and figures at her feet CONDITION REPORTS Appears visually to be in good condition though front section of headress duller in colour suggesting restoration. The same to be said of the child's hands and stick held in them and his right foot toes area. Possibly restoration to the dragon's head crest to the right and the tongue of the left dragon. Some firing cracks throughout particularly to the back of the neck and interior. See images for further detail.
A circa 1900 oak cylindrical stick stand by Liberty bearing label to underside "Liberty, Birmingham - London & Paris" CONDITION REPORTS Has numerous surface scratches, scuffs, knocks and dents to the wood. Some small chips in areas mainly to the edges of the hoops. Some discolouration and fading to areas, there are what appear to be flecks of white paint in a small area. There is a small split to the wood on one of the hoops where one of the pins is. A slight gap where one of the hoops where the ends are pinned.. Some tarnishing and pitting to the decorative metal studs. No obvious signs of restoration, re-polishing, re-varnishing etc. Item is structurally sound and solid with wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for details.
