An album of 191 photos of the British Lions rugby team tour to Argentina in 1910. 19 x 25.5cm 189 photos at 8.5 x11cm, two large full page photographs. It is likely that this album was compiled by one of the team, Barzillai Beckerleg Bennetts aka Barrie Bennetts, a Penzance solicitor and international rugby player. The team was made up of sixteen English and three Scottish players. Organised by Major RV 'Uncle' Stanley, the Oxford representative of the Rugby Union Committee, the team was named the 'English Rugby Union team' but the host country advertised the touring team as the Combined British. The 1910 team has been termed as one of the three 'lost lions' tours and is detailed on the British and Irish Lions official website. For Argentina this tour marked the start of international rugby union and the test against the Combined British on 12 June 1910 was the first test in the Argentine national teams history. Images include: pictures of the Lions on board RMSP Avon, the liner that took them to Argentina, various tourist views and some of the rugby matches.
