Rare Water whiskey pitcher in rich Kingsware glaze with Night Watchman, dressed in olive green and holding a lantern in relief on one side. On the other side it reads, Enough's as good as a feast. Royal Doulton backstamp.The watchman was the precursor of the policeman. He patrolled the streets of the city at night carrying a lantern and staff, calling the state of the weather and the hour.
