Camille Naudot (1862-1938), a rare porcelain and openwork enamel coffee cup and saucer, c.1900, decorated with cornflowers, the blue petals and green leaves picked out in openwork coloured enamels, highlighted in gilt, each base with gilt ‘CN’ monogram to base, and incised ‘CN 399’, the saucer 12.7cm diameter Camille Naudot (1862-1938) was the son of a porcelain merchant. He trained at the Ecole de Sèvres and succeeded his father about 1889. He specialised in the rice-grain decoration inspired by Chinese porcelain, of which this piece, is a magnificent example. The pierced openwork is filled with transparent glaze, the décor is heightened by enamel on the body and relief gold highlights. Camille Naudot won a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900 and the Grand Prix at the exhibitions in St Petersburg in 1901 and in London in 1908.In excellent condition with only minor manufacturing imperfections to the gilding on the edge of the saucerPLEASE NOTE:- Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any goods in which they are interested BEFORE the auction takes place.
