A marble and gilt metal mounted striking mantel clock garniture, early 20th centuryCondition report: The height of the centre piece is 41cm. Case has some minor chips to the edges in parts. The gilt metal mounts are slightly discoloured in parts. The dial is discoloured and there are some small scratches and minor chips around the winding holes. Small hairline crack to dial edge at 11 o clock position. Pendulum missing. Movement needs cleaning.

Paper 7 wide x 8¾ tall folded twice. 23 signatures including: F/O [later S/L] Stanley Arthur Armstrong 142798 W/C [later G/C] Geoffrey Arthur Vere Clayton DFC 33109 DFC. Wing Commander George Arthur Vere CLAYTON 33109 No. 240 Squadron. One night in April 1943 this officer led a detachment of aircraft on a special operation which demanded great skill and determination. Much of the complete success which was obtained can be attributed to this officers sterling work. He has invariably displayed qualities of leadership and courage of a high order. LG 18 June 1943.
