Geboren 1844 in Falkenau in Böhmen, verstorben 1917 in Mauer-Öhling, NÖ.Der Maler war Leiter eines weltweit tätigen Unternehmens, bevor er wohl auf Veranlassung seiner Familie in eine psychiatrische Klinik interniert wurde. Dort begann er 1897 auf Papier mit Aquarellfarbe, Tempera, farbiger Tinte und Tusche zu malen, schreiben und zeichnen.Die Anerkennung seines Werkes blieb Rädler zu Lebzeiten verwehrt. Die über 1000 doppelseitig bearbeiteten Blätter wurden in den 1960er Jahren, lange nach dem Tod des Künstlers im Abfall einer Klinik entdeckt und vom österr. Psychiater Leo Navratil 1994 erstmals ausgestellt. Auch publizierte Navratil eine Monografie begleitend zu dieser Ausstellung.Josef Karl Rädler war der erste Art Brut Maler Österreichs.
A 19th century yellow metal diamond set enamelled ring of pierced lozenge form centred with a pear cut pink stone within a frame of eight diamonds with traces of blue enamel, size O, approx 3.7g.Additional InformationQuite a lot of the enamel is damaged in small sections, there are abrasions to the surface of the central pink stone, some of the rub over settings are also quite heavily worn. The ring is unmarked and has general surface wear throughout.
