Framed black white photographic print 10 X 6 No. 617 ‘Dambuster’ Squadron, Attack on the Saumur Railway Tunnel, 8th June 1944. This raid was particularly significant as it was the first operational use of the Barnes Wallis designed ‘Tallboy’ bomb. The print features a Lancaster bomber and aerial photographs of the bombing. The print is also signed by F O P. W. ‘Bill’ Buttle DFC (Navigator), took part in the operation as a member of Flt Lt. B. Clayton’s crew. On the reverse of the frame is a short resume of F O ‘Bill’ Buttle’s career with No. 617 Squadron. Good condition Est.

Signed by Professor J O Forfar served as medical officer with 47 Commando RM during D Day landings, coming ashore at Gold beach near Les Roquettes and taking part in the Battle for Port en Bessin, the first port captured in Normandy. He served with the Commando throughout the War as was awarded the Military Cross and Mentioned in Despatches also Signed by Major M R Reynolds RM served as a Captain ( A Troop Commander ) with 48 Commando RM, during D Day landings. Came ashore at Juno Beach West of St Aubin Sur Mer where he was badly wounded in both arms. A ruby and diamond cluster ring, the slightly rounded rectangular cluster measuring approx. 19.29mm x 13.51mm, band marked '14', gross wt. 4.9g, size O. Condition - good, general wear, sold without certificate, however, diamonds with some minor inclusions, they're bright and lively, no visible yellowness, diamond wt. approx. 0.44 carats in total, central stone appears heavily included and also evidence of treatment, all stones appears secure.
