THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN. Three Second World War RAF Fighter Combat Reports, relating to 302 and 303 Polish Squadrons, stamped 'SECRET'. The first, is a single-sided report from No. 11 Group to Headquarters Fighter Command concerning a raid interception and patrol on 2nd September 1940, during which two enemy Me.109 were destroyed, 1 probable, 1 damaged; and one Hurricane aircraft was lost with no pilot casualties. The document describes the bold and brave actions of Polish aircrew in successfully breaking up a formation of nine Messerschmitt aircraft spotted near Dover, with allied aircrew being both 'pursuer and pursued'. The chase resulted in the engine failure of P/O Feric's Hurricane, necessitating a forced landing with 'The Pilot returning unhurt to Northolt at mid-night, having had little difficulty with the L.D.V in spite of his lack of English and foreign uniform'. It further goes on to say that the 'Polish Pilots showed up very well in this action, working in intelligent combination and pressing their attack right home. Sgt Rogowski deserves special commendation for his quick and courageous attack which probably saved the Squadron from what might have been a disastrous surprise'. The two further double-sided 'FORM F' Combat Reports from Headquarters, No. 11 Group to Headquarters, Fighter Command; concerning action by No. 302 (Polish) Squadron in March and April 1941. Both reports describe enemy attacks on British airspace, including the successful shooting down of an enemy JU.88 resulting in the loss of four airmen. (Signed) F. Jokiel P/O (Polish) Intelligence Officer, No. 302 Squadron. (3)
