1950/51 LETTERS. By 1950, Sven had begun a relationship with 'Mrs Fisher' (See lot 362) but was still writing to & receiving letters from Jacque secretly. Jacque was still at Rosehill Sanatorium but by 1951 was due to have surgery to help her cure. In a letter of May 1950 he writes, 'You probably know about as much about my situation as I do and I don't want anything to spoil what might pass between us because I value it. Can you for a little while write to me at Guido's address - Latin Press St. Ives...Don't use your name Sven (suggested by Guido)...I clearly love you - so there. I'm at present extracting myself from a difficult situation, which you will say in your dear way, 'Serves you right!' By June 1950 Sven is feeling guilty about asking Jacque to correspond secretly & promises that she will be able to send letters to the Tower again. Also, a typewritten letter dated 19th September 1951 from Guido Morris to Jacque, commenting that he has heard from Sven that she is to have her operation soon & wishing her luck. He also confirms that 'Your card for Sven (c/o me) reached here on his birthday, and was duly handed to him...
