A 1978 MGB Roadster, Manual + O/DReg No. FIG2818Chassis No. GHN5-459307Engine No. 21963This Glacier White MGB Roadster was first registered 16th May 1978 and was originally a rubber bumper version of the long-established best-selling MGB sports car range. This car underwent a comprehensive rebuild (photos on file) which the vendor believes were undertaken around the mid 2000’s. The 1798cc B-series engine is standard and is in good running order, this is connected to an overdrive gearbox operating on 3rd and 4th gears which is smooth in operation. The interior has been upgraded with black leather seats piped in white and wood dashboard and centre console. The hood is fairly recent and is in good condition. The silver painted wire wheels are shod with good condition tyres.Serviced regularly in the vendors late husband’s ownership, MOT now until the 12th May 2024 at the shown mileage of 85863. The vendor points out that there is a mileage discrepancy on the recorded MOT history of 9000 miles so it is believed the current mileage is around 94000 miles. The history file also shows that a category ‘C’ loss was declared in 2007 which apparently was light damage only but insurers decided uneconomic to repair. From close examination, this car presents extremely well and should provide economic entry to MGB ownership.

Rarely do we have the opportunity to offer an early chrome bumper GT in such fine condition.Styled by Pininfarina, the MG B GT arrived in 1965 to be greeted by universal acclaim. The adoption of a stylish fastback bodyshell enabled the provision of two occasional rear seats which, when folded flat, created a generous load platform accessible via the rear tailgate The more robust five-bearing B-Series engine was fitted to the GT right from the start and, when fitted with the manual/overdrive gearbox, offered comfortable touring at 70-80mphPrior to our vendor's purchase, it appears that this lovely example had been subject to a bare metal, engine out restoration and he has since had the engine rebuilt within the last 100 milesIt's finished in gleaming Tartan Red and sits on 14" chrome wires wearing excellent SP7s and sporting later-style, 3-eared spinnersThe black leather, piped in red, interior appears standard with a push-button radio and pleasingly retains its original sprung steering wheelA Revotec fan is fitted to aid cooling and the very smart engine bay is enhanced by an alloy rocker cover and polished SU 'pancake' air filtersRarely do we see B GTs in such fine fettle and this seems an excellent opportunity to acquire a ready-to-go classic at a very competitive guide price SpecificationMake: MGModel: BGTYear: 1968Chassis Number: GHD4157750GRegistration Number: XLM 659GTransmission: Manual O/DEngine Number: 18GD/WE/H5889Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 48348 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: VinylClick here for more details, condition report and images
