ALICK RIDDELL STURROCK RSA (Scottish 1885-1953) MISTY MORNING, KIRKCUDBRIGHT oil on canvas, signed original ornate gilt frame 50cm x 60 cm Note : Mainly a landscape painter. Born Edinburgh attended ECA and RSA Schools, winning a travelling scholarship he visited Paris, Italy, Munich and Holland. Exhibited with Eric Robertson, W O Hutchison and others in 1912 and 1913, and again after First World War as part of The Edinburgh Group. He and his wife, Mary Newbery, daughter of Fra Newbery who was such an influence on the Glasgow Boys, had a house and studio In Gatehouse of Fleet, Kirkcudbright. Treasurer of Royal Scottish Academy,1938 -1947; appointed secretary shortly before his death. Represented in numerous public collections.
