A ceremonial goblet or punch bowl, circa 1824, the incurved cup bowl engraved within a polished frame with scene of three seated men drinking, the frame inscribed ‘O Willie brew’d a peck o’ maut’, opposing a three wool sacks and four slanting paterae spaced with a rose and thistle within a dentilled band above the initials ‘J.A. to J.F.’ and the date ‘1824’, above a further inscription within a frame ‘Ace o’ Hearts/ To say aught less was wrang the cart es/ and flatt’ry I detest’, surrounded by a rose and thistle spray, grapes, a leaf and tendrils, on a stem with flattened knop at the centre, and a cut square foot with double dome above 24.5cm high
