'I knows no more melancholic ceremony than takin' the string out o' ones 'at at the end of the season', hand coloured print, 9.75 x 6in (25 x 15cm), a pencil drawing of spaniels flushing partridge, signed 'B JENNING BEL 1833', 3.75 x 5.5in (9.5 x 14cm), and a pair of stipple engravings after George Morland, 'Delia in Country' and 'In Town'. A late 18th Century Mahogany cased 8-day Long Case Clock, T O Springfield of Norwich, the hood with overhanging cornice surmounted by three lacquered Brass globe and spike finials, to freestanding columns and ogee throat to a long arched trunk door and raised on a plinth base, to a 12" arched first period painted dial, decorated with floral urn and wheat ears to the arch, over gilt highlighted rosette spandrels enclosing a chapter ring, subsidiary seconds and date sector with pierced steel hands, to an Osborne of Birmingham false plate and movement with plates united by four knopped pillars and anchor escapement, strike on a bell, height 87"
Family group: Four: Military Cross, Geo VI GRI issue, (reverse engraved May 1940 Captain P B I O Burge, The Royal Warwickshire Regt, LG 1945), 1939-45 star, France and Germany star, War medal, mounted court style, stars and war medal all privately impressed "Major P B I O Burge Royal Warwickshire Regt". Pair: Defence and War (privately named to 270283 Sub E A Burge ATS AA Comd (Eileen A Burge spouse of above). VF, with relevant niniatures. For MC only Plate 1. Note: Patrick Brooke Ian Ormsby Burge MC (London Gazette 11th October 1945). Commissioned into the Royal Warwickshire Regt in 1928. He served with the 1st Battalion in Palestine (1931) and in 1932 went to Alexandria under the command of Lt Col B L Montgomery who made Burge his Adjutant. In 1940 he was with the 8th Battalion in France and Belgium. From 10th-27th May, Burge's company saw action and were overwhelmed on the line of the Ypres-Comines canal and where he sustained a wound in the right hand which caused the loss of a finger, there he was captured and became a P.O.W. for five years.

Mounted as worn, GVF with the group in miniature and also including AGS 1902 no clasp, full size piece missing.

Note: Norman Ormsby Burge, Commissioned in the RMLI 1st February 1895, promoted Major 22nd January 1914, Temporary Lt Col 19th July 1915, Brevet Lt Col 1st May 1916. Served with the Royal Naval Division at Ostend, Antwerp, Dunkirk, Gallipoli (where he at one time commanded the Howe and Nelson Battalions) and France. MID 11th December 1915, he was killed at Beaumont Hamel (Somme) 13th November 1916. A painted brass side drum of the 1st Bn The Royal Warwickshire Regt, with regimental title, R Arms and supporters, regimental badge and battle honour scrolls "Namur 1695" to "Baghdad", painted rims, cords and tensioners, maker's painted name and stamp d 1890, ink notes on the bottom state "Drum-Royal Warwickshire Regt. Used by the 1st Bn in India till 1936 when new drums were bought. This was bought by the Adjutant Capt P B I O Burge, later Commanding Officer of the Depot 1st Bn & 7th Bn... (unclear), Col P B I O Burge MC. The drum is date stamped 1890 by Potter of London.... it was always said that this drum was with the Bn on 1908 operations on the N W Frontier and in France 1914-18, Palestine 1931, Egypt 1932-4, India 1934-6".
