An interesting scrapbook compiled by P O Yeoman of Signals A R Brown, RN, tracing his naval career from 1915 to 1945, including service on HMS Birkenhead at the Battle of Jutland, containing 34 various photographs (some postcard size or larger) of ships, including HMS Rodney at Scapa Flow in 1933, HMS Barham in 1937 and damage to HMS Warspite after a collision in 1933, and of personnel including Admiral Sir Dudley Pound with French Admiral Estera and Italian Admiral Bennotti aboard HMS Barham at Bizerta in 1937, together with a bound typed transcript of the text, photo copies of PO Brown's service record showing service on over 25 different ships, his Signal History Sheets from 1915 to 1930, a Spinks WM medallion commemorating the Battle of Jutland, in a box, and cap tallies of HMS Victory and the French ship "Dunkerque". Average GC. See Lot 712 for a Third Reich naval dagger brought back from WWII by PO Brown.

Lot 715

A pair of WWI Royal Flying Corps pilot's padded wings, GC. Reputed to have belonged to 2nd Lt Henry Taylor, awarded an MC for bombing a train while under heavy machine gun fire. Accompanying the wings is a newspaper cutting from "The Surrey Comet" of September 2nd 1916, with a picture of 2nd Lieut Taylor, announcing the award. His aircraft was shot down on 27th September 1916 by Hpt O. Boelcke, and he is buried in Mory Abbey Military Cemetery, France.

A Vic officer's broadsword of The Q Own Cameron Highlanders, DE claymore blade 32" by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall London, no 26024 (for 1885), etched with crown, regimental title, "79" and owner's crest and motto "Dulcis pr Patria Labor" (McKerrill) within foliate panels, regulation steel basket hilt with bars and panels pierced with hearts, wirebound fishskin grip. Basically GC (dark patina to blade, hilt silver painted, worthy of careful cleaning).
