During the Seven Years War and the American Revolution, the 21st Regiment saw service in Florida, Canada, and western New York. After recovering back in England, the Regiment was sent to Italy to hold the front against Napoleon, making a trek to Egypt in 1806. After Napoleon went to Elba in 1814, the 1st Battalion was sent to America to quell the war declared by Congress. and initiated by the American Army attacking Canada. as part of General Ross' troops, they were part of the third Brigade, which included the Royal Marines and landed sailors, which saw action at the Battle of North Point. The 3rd, 5th and 7th Companies were later sent to Washington, arriving just as President Madison his Senators and Generals were leaving, and were then involved with the burning of the White House and the eating of the Victory Dinner set on tables inside.
