Kincardine O` Neil - a very rare Scottish provincial silver medallion William Robb, marked ROBB, KO`N, Edinburgh 1889, the simple circular form with outer border inscribed ABOYNE 1890, with the centre engraved `R J Pithie 1st Prize`, with cast thistle suspension 4.5cm high (excluding suspension loop) 13.9g Notes: This is currently the only example of Robb`s work from Kincardine O` Neil to be recorded with the KO`N punch struck within a punch rather than the previously recorded incuse punch.
Kincardine O` Neil - a very rare Scottish provincial menu holder William Robb, marked ROBB, KO`N, Edinburgh 1894 - 1895, the conjoined initials MIA formed the obverse with sprung clip behind, raised on a simple flared base 6cm high 6cm wide Exhibition: `Silver: Made in Scotland`, piece and marks illustrated, 6.9 Notes: After training and briefly working in Aberdeen, William Robb moved to Kincardine O` Neil to set up in business. While he was only there for a brief and as yet unknown period, he registered his first official and `local` hallmarks there. Items struck with the KO`N punch are extremely rare and survive in only a very small number, perhaps as few as six items including the items offered here.
A carved walking stick inscribed `Charles Griffin, Wootton, May 26th 1879`, with two mottos ` Talk with me Lord, thy self reveal while here o`er I rove, speak to my heart, and let me feel your kindling of thy love` and further motto (broken and repaired), and further walking sticks and a pair of brass fire irons (6).
