Great Northern Railway (Ireland) 3 aspect Signalman`s Handlamp brass plated `THURLES 8`. Complete with original reservoir clearly stamped G.N.R.I and burner. The lamp body is also stamped `THURLES 8` and the reducing cone is stamped `CIE` indicating a later addition. A lovely lamp in excellent condition. Note, Thurles station is in Co. Tipperary and opened in March 1848. It is famed for the location of the arrest of William Smith O`Brien who performed many crimes during The Famine in the mid 19th century.
